Things that go bump in the night: A series of grisly murders rocks the village of Fletcher's Cross and local spiritualists fall under suspicion. Dead in the water: Barnaby and Scott immerse themselves in the luxurious world of rowing after a murder mars the annual Midsomer Regatta. Orchis fatalis: In the orchid-mad village of Midsomer Malham, Barnaby and Scott must discover who would kill to own an extremely rare specimen. Bantling boy: Why did the owner of Bantling Hall bequeath his champion thoroughbred to four Midsomer villagers? The only person who knows doesn't live to tell the tale.

Things That Go Bump in the Night: The murder of undertaker Patrick Pennyman takes Barnaby and Scott to the pretty village of Fletcher's Cross, where residents are divided about the rights and wrongs of a spiritualist church run by medium Rosetta Price. When Joyce Barnaby's friend Elizabeth is also killed, the detectives must find if there's a link between the funeral parlour and revelations from the spirit world.

Dead in the Water: The annual Midsomer Regatta is disrupted when the body of the chairman of the Midsomer Rowing Club is found in the river. Guy Sweetman was killed after arguing with his rowing club friends Phillip Trent and John Parkway. As Barnaby and Scott dig into the luxury lifestyles of the regatta set, they discover money problems and sexual jealousy are rife. Guy seems to have upset many people - but who killed him?

Orchis Fatalis: When one of the worlds rarest orchids is smuggled illegally into Midsomer Malham, it triggers a catalogue of passion, jealousy and death. First a retired classics teacher and secret sexual siren is poisoned with hemlock, then compulsive collector Henry Plummer is strangled and his beloved orchids destroyed. Barnaby and Scott must find the delicate yellow Roth plant and root out who is prepared to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds, and commit murder, just to get their hands on it.

Bantling Boy: Barnaby and Scott enter the world of horseracing when the trainer of thoroughbred Bantling Boy is battered to death. Bruce Hartley was an alcoholic who had vowed to expose the reason why his father bequeathed the horse to four Midsomer villagers. The other members of the syndicate come under suspicion, but the killing continues - then Bantling Boy falls ill. The detectives must unravel secrets hidden at the aristocratic Bantling Hall to find the killer.
