Manhattan physician Bill Harford's equilibrium is disrupted by a sexual revelation. At an elegant Christmas party, two 'models' hit on him, while he watches a Lothario try to pick up his tipsy wife. The next night, his wife reveals her sexual fantasies with a stranger. Bill's dead patient's daughter throws herself at him. He has homophobic insults thrown at him by six teenage boys. A prostitute takes him to her flat. Later, he interrupts men having a sex party with a girl barely in her teens. When he goes into a world of wealthy sex play at a masked ball of hedonism, his life is threatened and his self-respect and marriage disintegrates.
