Leia Kahale lives a quiet life in Hawaii, taking care of her grandmother, who is suffering from leprosy and dementia, and her sister Eva, who has Down Syndrome. When she is reunited with her old love, Bane Oana, Leia is nervous, afraid Bane's charm will sweep her off her feet again. Then a close friend of theirs dies in a diving accident. Neither is convinced it is an accident, though. As they investigate, Bane and Leia grow closer, but Leia is still unable to put the past aside and commit to Bane. It is only when a hurricane threatens their island that she realizes what she may lose if she lets Bane get away.
